Rope Characteristics

Polydyne is a double braided rope incorporating a polyester sleeve of Honeywell’s type 1W81 fiber over a nylon core. Polydyne maximizes load sharing between core and sleeve yielding extremely high strength and the highest working energy absorption capacity of all Yale ropes.

Polydyne is identified by two green strands separated by a white strand braided into the cover of the rope. The date of manufacture is denoted by coloured yarn between the core and the sleeve of the rope.

Elastic Elongation

The coloured area under the curve represents the rope’s energy absorption capability.

Green working 1,040 ft. lbs/lb
Red ultimate 9,700 ft. lbs/lb.

Dielectric Strength

The maximum allowable leakage for new dry Polydyne™ is 2.00 milliamperes at 60K DC Volts when tested in accordance with Yale Cordage Test Method DTP-185. Caution: Absorbed and entrained moisture or impurities will dramatically increase a rope's conductivity.

Polydyne is made to Yale Specification #YCI-PD-012.
